Marco was born into a beautiful Italian family in a small village in southern Brazil. He and his two sisters were raised in a very traditional Catholic home, attending church every Sunday and going through the motions.
At some point in his younger years he was offered to try some drugs. He was hooked and started using drugs and at times would overuse which would put him into a coma. One Friday afternoon a couple of his friends, that he did drugs with, invited Marco to go to church with them, on Saturday? His friends went regularly to this Seventh-day Adventist Church.
After the service, at this Adventist Church, they gave him a book called “The Great Controversy.” Marco was intrigued with what it had to say and he started exploring the Bible. Within four months Marco decided to follow Jesus and was baptized into the Adventist Church. All cravings for drugs, alcohol, and tobacco vanished with his new focus—Jesus. Despite Marco’s stand for Jesus his friends continued to use drugs. Today out of that friend group Marco and one other guy are the only ones still alive.
After school one day a friend said, “Hey Marco you should be a pastor.” Marco replied “You know what? I could do that!” Just a simple call God made through a friend and Marco accepted the challenge. The following year Marco started studying theology at Adventist University. After he graduated, he started working in the District of Ipiranga, Brazil. His path has taken him to be a missionary in the Amazon forest, a pastor and chaplain for various academies and then the Lord led him to America in 1999. First Boston, then Las Vegas, and on to Sacramento, to name a few. He was able to get his Masters of Divinity and in 2014 he began serving in the Oregon Conference at Crosspoint Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hillsboro.
Marco thanks God every day for His leading and finds being a minister in His church a high privilege. On Sabbath, November 10, 2018 at 6:30 pm, Marco was recognized by the Oregon Conference of Seventh-day Adventist, at Crosspoint Adventist Church, and became an Ordained Minister of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Marco is humbled that God uses him to bring people along side so they can also know Jesus.
