New Adventurer Program at Mt. Tabor

After 4 years of leading an active Pathfinder club, Ken and Adele Sunken have recently shifted their focus to reach the younger generations of kids at Mt. Tabor church. "We looked at the youth of our church, and many of them have grown up heading off to college, and the mission field. We knew that left our younger kids, so we started to look into the Adventurer program," explains Adele.

In preparation for starting a new club, Ken and Adele visited other churches to learn how the program was presented. They liked the idea of offering a ministry that would effectively reach younger children as well as their parents who turned out to be very enthusiastic about the new program. Oregon Conference Adventurers Director, Angelina Wood, also came to visit their church, and provide some extra support. "The manuals and training materials were great, and gave us excellent program ideas. Angelina gave us the inspiration and support we needed," commented Adele.

Adele continued, "If you haven't thought that your church was ready for this program you should consider it as an outreach for younger children in the church, as well as those from the local community."

Mt. Tabor's Adventurers club met for the first time on February 26, 2009. Even though two of their expected students were out sick, eight more attended, and it was a definite blessing. For the time being, they plan to meet once a month on the second Thursday of the month from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Investiture will be in May, and enrollment is currently open.
